Welcome on the Algarve

New location – new website: Since January 2020 we have moved our diving centre Blue Ocean Divers to the Luz Bay Club in Vila da Luz.

Since 1996 we live and dive in the Algarve and are looking forward to every guest with whom we can share our enthusiasm for the over- and underwater world of the Atlantic Ocean. Whether it’s introductory pool diving, diving courses, PADI Specialty Courses, relaxed shore dives or spectacular wreck and grotto dives – everyone will find a way to enjoy the underwater world of the Atlantic Ocean with us.

And if you don’t like diving, you are welcome to join us on a kayak excursion and have a look at the sea of oban. We offer:

  • Snorkeling lessons
  • Trial Diving
  • Diving Courses
  • Dive trips
  • Kayak tours

Accomodation

Vila da Luz and Lagos offer a wide range of accommodation from campsites to 4* hotels.

If you don’t want to be far away from the diving center, you can book directly at the Luz Bay Club, where our diving center is located. If you are looking for alternatives such as apartments or other accommodation to suit every budget, we will be happy to help and give you tips.

On request we also pick you up at your accommodation for our diving flights with our daily pick-up service. Within Lagos and Vila da Luz this is free of charge, for pick-ups outside this region we usually charge 10 Euro.

Diving

Our diving school is open all year round, but most of the diving guests use the period from April to October. The water temperatures in the Atlantic Ocean vary between fresh 16 and pleasant 20 degrees Celsius. Visibility ranges from 8 to, under optimal conditions, up to 20 meters.

We offer our guests around 20 different dive sites, including the highlights of the Algarve – the caves at Sagres and the artificially sunk wrecks off Portimao.

Our dive sites are accessible from land and by various boats. The diving depth ranges from shallow dives for beginners or re-starters to a maximum depth of 30 meters. Our “house diving areas” do not know masses of underwater crowds. Usually we plan the dives so that we are alone on site with our dive group. But also the trips to the wrecks or the grottos are very relaxed.
